Privacy and safety on adult sites: a practical checklist

Reputable adult sites take privacy seriously, but your own habits matter just as much. Work through this checklist before you join any site.

1. Pick an anonymous username

Don’t use your real name, your gamer tag or anything you use elsewhere. A username that can’t be searched back to you is the simplest privacy step there is.

2. Use a separate email address

Create a free email address just for adult sites. It keeps newsletters and receipts out of your main inbox and limits the damage if a site is ever breached.

3. Use a unique, strong password

Use a password manager and a password you don’t use anywhere else. Turn on two-factor authentication if the site offers it.

4. Check how billing appears

Good sites bill under a neutral company name, so the site’s name doesn’t appear on your bank statement. Look for this in the site’s FAQ before you buy credits. Prepaid cards can add another layer of privacy.

5. Keep your camera and microphone off

Two-way video is always optional. If you do use it, check what is visible behind you, and remember anything shown on camera could in theory be recorded.

6. Never share personal details

No real name, workplace, city or social media handles. Real performers and creators on real platforms won’t ask for them.

Common scams to avoid

The golden rule: if anyone asks you to pay outside the site, it’s a scam.

  • “Let’s move to WhatsApp/Telegram”: fake profiles lure people off-platform, then ask for money or gift cards.
  • Blackmail (“sextortion”) threats: someone claims to have recorded you and demands payment. Don’t pay, stop replying, keep the evidence and report it to the site and the police.
  • Fake sites: copycat sites with no verification and suspicious payment pages. Stick to established names.
  • “Free credits” generators: these are always phishing for your login.

Clear your tracks if you share a device

Use a private browsing window, or log out and clear your history after each visit.

Stay anonymous, keep everything on the platform, and you’ll avoid nearly every problem people run into.
